The gate on the Nebe level didn't have much outgoing traffic this early in the morning, but there were a number of traders making their way in. As they got close to the gate, the group was approached by a guard, who asked for their passes. He man spent a little time logging their information, before asking if they had been there for the auction. They confirmed and then he turned to Valeyo to ask if he had been in the palace twice. He explained they had business with the Emisar and the guard remarked on the strangeness of their group. He questioned where they were going and Valeyo began acting despondent, which made the man uncomfortable. He just said he wished to warn them, that travelling north via a ship would be safer, but if they were to use the road, they should stick to the east. They thanked him and left the city.

From the outside, the city seemed like a small walled settlement, it's depths unseen. After almost an hour, the got the Baron out of the bag and transformed him back. He thanked them and asked what was next, they said it would likely me Velimos. The Baron agreed that going to a walled place is more suitable for him, though he could go into the forest, he wasn't a fan of the idea. Shiek mentioned, that the displacer beast had told him to seek a unicorn in the forest to their south. Valeyo was surprised the creature could communicate and used his abilities to make it understand his speech. The beast was having a hard time communicating its intention, before eventually starting to carve symbols into the floor. Cassini used Comprehend Languages to read the text and got the impression that that what the creature was trying to say was that it didn’t know anything about a unicorn, that was god speaking. Shiek realized it was a message from Dirlagrauna. Valeyo asked if he wanted to pursue it, remarking that they would be passing by the forest anyways, but without a way to narrow the search, it would be near impossible to find the unicorn.

With that they continued a quiet day of travel.

When getting up and preparing for their travel, Shiek noticed the displacer beast prowling on the southern side of the road. He called out to it, but it paid him no heed and continued moving south-east towards the woods. Shiek approached it and asked what it saw. The beast just looked at him and them back towards the forest. Shiek fed it some of the food Otto and made and it happily took it and was coaxed into continuing to walk the road. In the evening, the group decided they were sufficiently far from civilization. There was a bunch of faffing by Cassini, but eventually he decided to do it. He put the telescope together and said he was worried that Lolth might be mad at him, but Valeyo said it would be very conceited to believe himself important enough for a god to hate him. Eventually, the looked through the telescope at the moon, using his Eye of the Lunar Gods. The new telescope had greater magnification and he could see finer details, but was unable to shake the feeling, of something looking back. Suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulder and a man was standing behind Cassini. It looked to be a man in traveler's clothes and in a mundane appearance. The group asked who he was and the man just said, that he needed to speak to Cassini. The man looked at him and said it was interesting to meet him, but he didn't bring good news. He told the group that they had been embroiled in a mysterious scheme and needed them to stop. Getting a better looked at him, he bore no distinguishing features. They asked who he was again and he just repeated himself. Valeyo asked if he was with Gemma and the creature she had. He said that their actions were regrettable, but well-motivated, as they were doing it to protect the mother. What he was doing, by assembling this dangerous relic, needed to stop. The man saw Cassini's nervousness and said he could put the telescope back where he found it, if that made it easier for him.

Valeyo asked if he was telling them that Cassini was being led astray and the man confirmed. Cassini asked where his information was coming from and was told it was the Mother. Cassini asked who that was and the man looked exasperated that someone calling themselves a scholar would be so ignorant. Cassini said that all he knew was that someone he trusted prompted him to build this and all this man could offer as proof was his word. Valeyo asked Cassini who prompted him to build this, a question that the man echoed. Cassini just looked away and said that he didn't know what was going on and was trying to figure it out. He asked the man how he would separate the telescope, but the man said he couldn't speak the words, for they were connected to the Queen of Lies. Shiek asked how he would take the telescope and the man said he was willing to use force, but wished he wouldn't need to. He then put his hand towards Cassini and told him to hand the weapon over. Cassini said his argument wasn't exactly convincing, which is when the man began walking towards him.

From behind him, Shiek pulled out his hand crossbow and warned the man to stop approaching Cassini. The others also prepared, but the man continued walking towards Cassini. Shiek shot him with a poisoned bolt, only for the man to calmly cast Lesser Restoration and continue walking forwards. Valeyo tried to charm it, asking it to stop and saying they didn't need to fight. It was immune to the effect and just looked at him saying he appreciated what he was trying to do, but he needed the weapon. Sapphira then loosened two arrows and the hit from the first one, revealed the creature's true form. The guise of the traveler fell away and revealed, the beautiful angelic form of the Deva. The crescent moon halo and lunar light coming from its eyes clearly identified it as an angel of Sehenine. It sighed and summoned a mace, as Otto went to attack it. Valeyo kept trying to convince it to stop, but it refused and the others kept attacking. Eventually the angel rose and said a quiet prayer, before asking them to forgive him and launching its attacks towards Milivoj. Milivoj looked hesitant. He raise his weapon towards the angel and told it that he didn’t wish to fight, but if it continued the assault, he would have to. This back and forth continued and when Otto shot a chunk of ruby at it, from his helmet it was looking quite bloodied. Despite this, it showed no physical signs of exhaustion. While restrained by Cassini's telepathy, it looked back at him and allowed its mace to vanish. Cassini tried to grasp it again, but failed and the creature rose it is feet. It then sighed before speaking "Fine, then. I will leave.". Despite this proclamation, on the way up, it attempted to grapple Milivoj. After reaching high into the air, it spoke into the group's minds saying "That weapon must be destroyed. I am but the first, of many." It then flew swiftly, to the west.

The group then talked about what had happened and the fact that this seemed to conflict their previous idea of Sehenine wishing for their help as well. Valeyo said this situation was odd, but he believed that the Deva believed its words, as angels were not known to lie. Otto said he couldn't take it on its word without evidence and Valeyo asked him if that wasn't exactly what faith was . Shiek asked why it didn't explain itself and Valeyo explained that to it, the group were children, who refuse to do their chores. As their conversation continued, a noise was heard from the south.

In the distance, the group noticed a large, wolf-like creature making their way towards them. Sapphira shot a solar steel arrow towards it to illuminate the area. Not wee-lit, the creature in front them, clear had the body of a wolf, but a human arrow and something shiny in its mouth, which reflected the light. It was nothing Sapphira had ever seen, its movement slow and calculated, as it wandered towards them stopping 10ft before Shiek. It then dropped the object in its mouth, which in the limited light, was seen to be a silver horseshoe. Shiek asked if it could understand him and it nodded. When he asked it, why it had delivered this, it began to walk away. He intercepted it and asked where it was going and it just pointed south. Shiek asked if they were to follow, which made the beast start looking around. It found a stick, which after some rummaging, managed to take a stick an balance it on its forehead. Shiek asked if the unicorn was south and the beast nodded. When asked if it was far, it nodded again. Shiek turned to the others and said they could follow this creature, but the beast just yapped, towards the horseshoe.

Shiek handed it to Otto and Valeyo wondered if they could use the tracking spell, like before, to find the other from the set. Otto looked it over and determined it was magical, the dog-creature then started barking towards Milivoj. Suddenly, it clicked in Valeyo's mind. He talked about the fairy tales of a man being given a pair of boots, which when donned began walking him to a destination. This would be the same, but for the beast. Milivoj called Blazh over and told him to put the horseshoe on his mount. The large man stripped the old horse shoe, but when he went to nail the new one, he realised it had no holes. Milivoj took it and held it to the foot of the mount, when it magically affixed itself to its sole.

The group decided to rest, before they continued, not eager to travel in the night through the forest.

In the morning, as the group prepared, the question of what they would do with the Baron came up. Milivoj told the man that his options were coming with them, waiting in the woods, or walking out into the sun. Byron decided to wait for them in the forest. Before they left, Valeyo spoke to Ysomir and handed him a vial of oil and a stake, telling him to set the cart on fire if the Baron attacks them. The old man nodded and put the items away. Soon after, the group began their journey to the south, following Milivoj's horse, which now walked a little faster.
