Session 60 - Pieces
33/07/5-10
Sapphira found herself in a weird place, but one that felt familiar. It reminded her of before her escape, unusual due to her lack of memories from the time. Something began to take shape in her vision, her eyes opening and being in a container of liquid, in a room she thought she was rid of long ago. On a nearby table, being worked on by the terrifying form of Tilda, was the Baron.
Next to Valeyo in the Force Cage, the disciple of the moon dropped the telescope, before falling to his knees and starting to pray. He suddenly began to glow, filling the box and eventually the room. The effect filled Valeyo with hope and Cassini with despair. Back in the vision, Sapphira could focus on the Baron's body, as Tilda carved runes into his chest with a wicked looking knife. Flashes of memory flew past, often including Tilda's face looking against the transparent barrier containing Sapphira, but it was all a mess, hard to understand. The next thing she saw was a creature, like huge skull with a missing eye socket enter the room and begin destroying everything, enabling her escape.
Valeyo looked at the cube, as a humanoid figure of light hovered over the cube It raised its hand and shot a beam at Valeyo and the Emisar. Shiek reached Crimson and hit her, with Kalen arriving soon after and knocking her out. The winged cleric then grabbed her body and began flying south. Back in the auction house, the Khert's flying lion had arrived and he started swinging at the flying being of energy. Just below, Shiek knocked Gemma out cold. In her memory, Sapphira's visions were nearing the end, almost arriving at the point of the escape, where her memory begins.
Battle continued against the glowing being that used to be the disciple. With one of the Khert's attacks, the creature began to crack. To Cassini, through his Moon Eye it seemed like there were two energies within the being, two conflicting forces of Sehanine and Arvandor, splitting. Seeing this, Cassini hit it with a blast of necrotic energy, which seemed to quicken the split. Sapphira finally managed to bring forth the rest of the memory, of herself breaking through the wall of the glass, shattering the dream and falling back onto the floor of the auction house. She quickly stood up and saw the creature being attacked by her friends. Knocking back two arrows, she shoots one in its head and one in the chest, cracking. Cassini watched the energies destabilize further and he expected there would be a destructive result. He shouted at the others warning them, before moving away. He opened the door on the wall with his magic and Otto and him ran to it. Where the body of the creature was, a rift in reality opened and immense suction began pulling everything towards. The rift destroyed everything it touched including the dwarf.
Everyone ran outside, as the building began to collapse. People were waiting outside, with Shiek tying up Gemma. Valeyo walked up to Mazirt and began shouting at him for his stupidity and what he did, saying it was the typical killing of the enemy and leaving the rest to pick up the pieces. Soon after the Khert arrived with a pissed off looking Daniel. The Emisar was also there and gave the telescope to Daniel. Valeyo went up to her, and they talked about it breaking through the cage. She also warned them that there will be an inquiry by the city and if they need help they could find her if they need to. Valeyo turned his attention back to Mazirt, who was shocked by the vents. He continued shouting about the death and choosing to fight at a populated space. Mazirt muttered that this was not the plan and Valeyo called him the butcher of Erlrinner, which he saw hurt him. Some minutes after, guards began arriving. Eventually a tailless red dragonborn arrived, a member of the House of Law. He called out that everyone was to line up and running would be considered admittance of guilt. He then whispered something to Daniel. Soon after, he turned to the people and said there were two incidents, a creature of light and the high priestess, as well as Crimson and the death knight. He asked for a summary of why the priestess was attacked and they gave him the story. He then told them that any questions about the item and auction were to be directed at Daniel.
Valeyo, Shiek and Milivoj went to Daniel, who was talking to the Khert and Mr Novak. He seemed livid, but upon them approaching softened a bit. He thanked them for their help and asked how to help. Valeyo asked what was happening. The summary was that the sold would be honoured, but the auction house fee waived. The unsold would return to their owners. The ring would be returning to its home, as was the deal. But Daniel was livid that what was supposed to be a calm operation, was instead a bloodbath.
As they were saying this, Kalen returned and headed straight for Yorhaza. Valeyo intercepted and began shouting at him for killing those people. When Kalen called it an "unfortunate situation", Valeyo said it was not "unfortunate", rather, entirely preventable. Kalen said he had things to do and ignored Valeyo. Walking up to Yorhaza, he paid him the cost of the ring and left. Shiek spoke to Yorhaza who gave him his share. Shiek asked if this was planned and Yorhaza said that Kalen had approached him to hire someone to steal the ring and set this auction up. Yorhaza apologized for using him. Shiek returned to the group and told them what happened. A minute after, Raya approached and said she could not afford the gem any more, offering for the group to buy it, but they refused. In all likelihood, in this situation she would be forgiven for her bid. Valeyo went on a tirade about the Order, power, kingship and the Flottyem accord and when he ran out of steam and his anger passed. He began to cry. Sapphira said that at least, she won't be "dealt with" by the looks of it and the group decided to leave.
On the short walk to the Storm's Scion, the group saw a queue forming by the elevator as almost a dozen guards surrounded its entrance. A second later, escorted by a pile of well-armoured and adorned soldiers, were a woman wearing regal clothes in her early 20s. She had olive skin and short black hair, cut at in a line, her expensive dress contrasting her simple tiara. This ornament, symbolized her the heir to the throne, the king's daughter.
In the Storm's Scion the barkeeper offered them anything they needed, after seeing their damaged state.
