Session 49 - Flash Flood
34/06/5-10
The party stated diving deeper into the cavern with Milivoj leading the way. The waters darkened and soon they were faced with hundreds of bones, the remains of the hag's prey. Suddenly, a magical compulsion took over Milivoj, which Valeyo noticed, Countercharming it away. This allowed them to proceed, until they reached a large chamber. The chamber was covered in verdant plant life, too much for a place with no direct sunlight. In the back of the chamber was a pocket of air. Near it, Cassini noticed a rock he recognized from his studies as a Crab using it for camouflage.
Upon closer inspection, there was a stone structure deeper with sone stair leading up to it. Opting to breach the water and go up on the shore as quickly as possible, the party got a good look. On the stone structure, revealed to be an altar, were 3 hags performing a ritual of sorts. The one in the middle, was much larger than the others, bearing serpentine characteristics. At the back was a pile of treasure and some crates.
In the midst of combat, Cassini used Control Water to flush the water out of the cavern. Doing so rendered the Hag's action of summoning a large aquatic creature less effective. Eventually the Hags were defeated.
The pile of treasure contained:
- 4009sp, 3966gp, 28pp.
- Candle with sticks pushing through its base,
- A potion, grey with shards of red glass, smelling of burnt wood.
- A scroll, written in infernal. It was similar to a spell scroll, allowing you to cast Command. Called a Blasphemous Writ
- Small purple crystal, shaped like a triangular prism
- 2 Boxes of salt
- 2 Barrel of wine
- 2 Boxes of silk
Next to the hag, was a small marble statue of the beast she had summoned. After collecting the items, Valeyo broke the magical sigil the hags had made and they took their leave. After a while they swam back to shore, collected their clothes and returned to the Seacleave. The captain was surprised that they were gone overnight, but was glad to see them. They told him that the hags had been dealt with and asked if it would take long to get back on course. Roger told them that it would be half a day at most. He got the deckhands into action and the ship began sailing south.
On the way the party started looking over the items they had collected. The potion was a Potion of Dire Cleansing, the candle a Bonfire Candle which keeps the user warm. The prism was an Ioun Stone of Reserve.
